Data Scientist
Deadline: Nov 22, 2019

The National Socio-Environmental Synthesis Center (www.sesync.org) seeks a Data Scientist to join the cyberinfrastructure (CI) team in supporting collaborative, computational, and data-driven socio-environmental research. Our supported science teams and postdoctoral fellows come from many different disciplines and synthesize diverse models and data sets to answer large-scale questions at the intersection of humans and the environment. The Data Scientist will work closely with the CI team to assist scientists in performing data and model syntheses.

Systems Administrator

Postdoctoral Researcher in Ecosystems Modeling
Deadline: Nov 01, 2019

Dr. Isabel MD Rosa at Bangor University, Sarah Weiskopf at the USGS National Climate Adaptation Science Center, and the University of Maryland’s National Socio Environmental Synthesis Center (SESYNC) seek a postdoctoral researcher to investigate the linkages between biodiversity, ecosystem function, and ecosystem services, and how we can move towards integrated modeling of these relationships. The postdoc will lead the development of an interdisciplinary research program investigating how biodiversity impacts ecosystem functions, and how such relationships may vary depending on spatial and temporal scales, locations, types of biodiversity and/or ecosystem functions and services.

Postdoctoral Researcher in Global Nitrogen Availability
Deadline: Sep 23, 2019

Dr. Andrew Elmore (https://www.umces.edu/andrew-elmore) at the University of Maryland’s National Socio-Environmental Synthesis Center (SESYNC) expects funding to support a postdoctoral researcher investigating global patterns of nitrogen availability and trends over time. The postdoc will lead the development of an interdisciplinary research program investigating how the availability of nitrogen influences ecological processes and services to humanity. The position is ideally suited to researchers with interests combining globally distributed ecological observations with moderate resolution remote sensing.

Environmental Science Research Assistant
Deadline: Sep 18, 2019

The National Socio-Environmental Synthesis Center (www.SESYNC.org) located in Annapolis, Maryland is a think-tank type research center funded by the National Science Foundation through the University of Maryland. SESYNC is devoted to promoting interdisciplinary synthesis research on the sustainability of coupled human-natural systems, and is seeking a candidate to provide support for education and research programs.
